This morning, President-elect Donald J. Trump announced the appointment of Congressman Mike Pompeo to lead the Central Intelligence Agency.
Congressman Pompeo has served the Fourth District of Kansas since 2011, having been elected after a multi-candidate primary in 2010. He has since won re-election in 2012, 2014 and most recently this year, garnering more than 60 percent of the vote according to unofficial totals.
During his time in office, Pompeo has served on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. He has also served as a member of the House Select Committee on Benghazi.
“Mike Pompeo has shown incredible leadership for Sedgwick County and the Fourth District during his time in Congress,” said Sean Hatfield, chairman of the Sedgwick Country Republican Party. “Congressman Pompeo is eminently qualified to lead the CIA and I know he will work hard to keep our country safe, just like he has during his years in Congress and in the United States Army.”
The Sedgwick County Republican Party congratulates Congressman Mike Pompeo on this distinguished and significant appointment.
